Free Georges Abdallah! Fight Imperialism!

Georges Abdallah is an Arab communist and internationalist fighter who has dedicated his life to the struggle against imperialism and Zionism. He is a co-founder of the Lebanese Revolutionary Armed Fractions (FARL), an organization that carried out armed struggle in Europe against the backers and sponsors of Zionist criminals responsible for the occupation of Palestine and the devastating war in Lebanon in 1982. In particular, the FARL claimed responsibility for the execution of a Mossad agent and a U.S. military attaché in France.

Arrested in Lyon in 1984 and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1987, Georges Abdallah has been a revolutionary political prisoner since the very first day of his arrest. Although eligible for release under French law since 1999, he has been kept in detention for more than 40 years and remains the target of relentless political persecution by the French authorities and their American and Zionist allies, due to his refusal to renounce his revolutionary commitment.

This persecution continues to this day. Although a court ordered his release in November 2024, the French authorities are doing everything they can to keep him imprisoned, using every legal avenue available to them: appeals, postponements, petitions to additional courts, and more. A telling example of this persistence is that the court of appeals has scheduled another hearing on June 19 and is now demanding that Georges Abdallah “demonstrate a significant effort to compensate the civil parties.” Yet another blackmail to impose repentance.

While the Zionist genocide in Palestine continues with the support of Western imperialism, joining the fight for the liberation of Georges Abdallah means linking support for the Palestinian and Arab revolutionary left with the fight against our own imperialism here in Europe. In this sense, the European revolutionary left must fully commit to this struggle—not just as an act of solidarity with a comrade who stands tall and remains faithful to his principles, but also in defense of our own history and political project. Likewise, Georges Abdallah’s own fight to strengthen the unity of our camp offers a powerful lesson for today. Through his contributions to many initiatives—from the June 19, 1999 platform of revolutionary prisoners to numerous solidarity hunger strikes—he brings his famous phrase to life: “Only together will we win.”

In this spirit, and as we have done since 2003, Red Help International calls for the participation in ongoing mobilizations, especially by joining the demonstration on Saturday, June 14 in Paris to once again demand the release of Georges Abdallah.
