“It is our duty to fight for our freedom.
It is our duty to win.
We must love and support each other.
We have nothing to lose but our chains.”
Assata Shakur
At the beginning of October 2025, delegations from Zurich, Geneva, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Brussels, Toulouse, Milan, Turin, and Rome gathered for the biannual conference of the International Red Help. The conference took place in a global context of intensifying inter-imperialist contradictions, a growing trend toward reaction and war, the development of preventive counter-revolution, but also the rise of resistances confronting these dynamics — embodied for example by uprisings of the youth across the world.
Our conference was, of course, dedicated to our commitment to the liberation of all revolutionary prisoners who embody advanced experiences of anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist struggles and our collective emancipation: Hanna, Maja and all the antifascists involved in the so-called Budapest case, the German revolutionary Daniela Klette, militants of the Red Brigades, prisoners of the PCE(r) and GRAPO as well as anarchist prisoners Nikos Maziotis or Alfredo Cospito. The victory of Georges Abdallah’s liberation last July, to which we modestly contributed for 20 years, underscores that in this struggle, only resistance inside and outside the prisons can tear freedom from the enemy’s grasp.
Our discussions also focused on the race toward militarization and the tendency toward war in Europe, which reflect the loss of Western — especially European — imperialist hegemony and a deep crisis of capitalism. In this sense, the “ReArm Europe” campaign, which foresees €800 billion in military investments in Europe, must be firmly opposed. This means rejecting all forms of chauvinism and making Karl Liebknecht’s famous slogan our own: “The main enemy is in our own country.” More than ever, the time has come to affirm that no peace will be possible without putting an end to capitalism. And that we must fight and work toward the conditions for the necessary revolutionary process.
While the imperialist-Zionist genocide in Gaza has continued for two years, the situation in Palestine occupied a central place in our discussions. In particular, Trump’s so-called “peace” plan was denounced for what it truly is: a plan to impose capitulation and colonial control over the Gaza Strip. In this context, we must stand firmly with the Palestinian resistance, which implies confronting Western imperialism — as illustrated by recent mass mobilizations in Italy and elsewhere. As part of this struggle, several prisoners for the Palestinian cause are currently detained in Europe and the United States, such as the Filton 24 and Casey Goonan, to whom we renew our full solidarity.
We also analyzed the evolution of the situation in the different regions of Kurdistan thanks to concrete assessments provided by several revolutionary forces active on the ground. In the face of complex developments and profound tactical and strategic changes, we believe it is more important than ever to support the path of resistance in the ongoing process confronting Turkish fascism, imperialism, and various reactionary forces in the region. Here as elsewhere, it is through building critical solidarity that we can bring genuine revolutionary internationalism to life.
Finally, since our last conference in March 2025, the revolutionary left has bid farewell to important figures of our movement such as the African-American militant Assata Shakur, Moroccan communist Aziz Menebhi, comrade Basavaraj of the CPI (Maoist), anarcho-syndicalist Octavi Alberola, and German revolutionaries Brigitte Asdonk and Petra Krause. Paying tribute to them means following their path of commitment to building a revolutionary perspective in line with the subjective and objective realities of our time.
Destroy capitalism, construct solidarity!
